* IMPORTANT: If you intend to join U.S. Figure Skating through a local club, the cost is often lower than joining U.S. Figure Skating directly and you will receive additional club member benefits! But you CAN NOT do this through the U.S. Figure Skating website - you need to join the club directly!
Your club membership includes additional club benefits, such as the ability to skate on club-sponsored ice sessions and test sessions, AND your U.S. Figure Skating Membership!
* Use the links below to join U.S. Figure Skating through a local club:
My U.S. Figure Skating membership is through The Skating Club of New York, where I am a coach member.
The SCNY was founded in 1863 and is the second-oldest skating club in the United States. It was one of the founding members of the United States Figure Skating Association, now U.S. Figure Skating. Among the skaters representing the club in competition are Johnny Weir, Elaine Zayak, Adam Rippon, Maia, and Alex Shibutani, and Olympic champions Sarah Hughes, Carol Heiss, and Dorothy Hamill.
The SCNY is a wonderful, well-funded club, especially for adult skaters! Believe it or not, the president of SCNY, Troy Goldstein, lives in Randolph, NJ. Troy is also a Technical Specialist and has served on the Technical Panel at the 2022 Olympic Games.
* Here is a list of other clubs that correspond to the rinks that I coach out of:
Additional Club Suggestion: Essex Skating Club of New Jersey (Cody Arena at South Mountain Reservation) - I am an associate member of this club!
You may also visit U.S. Figure Skating's website for more information.
Any skater wishing to take a U.S. Figure Skating test must be a member! You may not take official tests with a Learn to Skate USA or Basic Skills membership.
Additionally, skaters taking lessons, skating on freestyle sessions, or club sessions are expected to have a current U.S. Figure Skating membership to ensure coverage with supplemental sports accident insurance.
Many local clubs also offer club-sponsored ice sessions. Membership in the club can provide you with more access to additional practice sessions and priority to test on club-sponsored official U.S. Figure Skating test sessions. (Benefits may vary from club to club.)
You may join U.S. Figure Skating directly or through your local club (as noted to the left).
All U.S. Figure Skating Memberships expire after June 30 of each year.
You are expected to renew your membership for the current year, which begins July 1.
Many figure skating clubs use EntryEeze. If you are new to using EntryEeze, this video can help you!
