I grew up skating at Mennen!
My Dad took the picture on the left around 1981. I'm skating in the original rink at Mennen, now known as Rink 1. It's still my favorite rink!
I only coach on Freestyle, Mennen Ice (contract), and SCoM Club Ice Sessions at Mennen.
These sessions are for lessons for singles, dance, and other skating disciplines and practice for those with skating experience. Unless otherwise specified, these sessions are open to all ages and levels. However, those below Basic 5 can benefit from being accompanied by an approved coach. You will also need your own figure skates. Rental skates, hockey skates, and semi-private (small group lessons) are not permitted at Mennen.
I do not currently coach on Public Sessions or Hockey Teaching Sessions.
Mennen Ice - Contracted Freestyle Sessions:
These sessions are for lessons for singles, dance, and other skating disciplines, as well as practice for those with skating experience. Unless otherwise specified, these sessions are open to all ages and levels. However, skaters below Basic 5 can benefit from being accompanied by an approved coach. You will also need your own figure skates. Rental skates, hockey skates, and semi-private (small group lessons) are not permitted on Mennen Ice Contracted Freestyle Sessions!
Mennen Ice Sessions are contracted ice that is purchased in advance. They are offered on weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the school year. Contracts must be purchased for the entire session—contracts will not be prorated if you decide to purchase after a session has begun.
If space is available, walk-on fees are $20.00* for a 60-minute session and $30* for a 90-minute session. Mennen posts walk-on ice no more than 24 hours before the start time of each session. Additionally, walk-on sessions are unavailable during the first week of a new session.
Those not contracted for ice cannot walk on the first week of a Mennen Ice Session, regardless of whether you have a lesson scheduled. After the first week, the costs for walk-on Mennen Ice sessions are - 60-minute sessions ($20.00) and 90-minute sessions ($30.00). These walk-on sessions are made available 24 hours before the start of the session. All skaters must pay for their session and lesson before entering the ice.

All freestyle sessions are only available for online purchase up to 30 minutes before the start of the session. This does not mean that a skater is not permitted to come to skate on the session if there is space. However, if you are purchasing at the last minute, you will have to stop at the cashier window to pay for the session—please allow additional time!
Mennen Ice and Open Freestyle sessions at Mennen Sports Arena are limited to 28 skaters.
You are encouraged to contract ice if you plan on scheduling a lesson on any Mennen Ice Session so that you are guaranteed the space. Non-contracted skaters who schedule lessons on Contract Ice are responsible for full lesson payment even if denied as guests. You are encouraged to contract ice if you plan on scheduling a lesson on any Menen Contracted Ice Freestyle Session so that you are guaranteed the space.
Coaches do not receive any sales commission on Contract Ice or Freestyle Sessions!**
In recognition of the need for all skaters to keep their focus on what is happening on the ice and to be consistent with US Figure Skating’s guidelines, non-approved coaches, parents, and/or other family members/friends may not instruct a skater from the ice, hockey boxes, boards, bleachers, or any other location.
For the purposes of this rule, “instruction” includes providing feedback, direction on what the skater should be working on, and any other guidance about what a skater is doing on the ice. There are no exceptions for young skaters. Mennen is strict about this policy!
